Halkbank’s Environmental and Social Policy
The Environmental and Social Policy represents Halkbank's commitment to providing services based on the principles of environmental and social responsibility. Halkbank recognizes the importance and relevance of social and environmental risk management in financial institutions and is dedicated to implement the Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS) in accordance with Macedonian and international environmental, social, health and safety standards.
In this regard, Halkbank is committed to identify, prevent and mitigate all short, medium and long term social and environmental risks associated with its business activities.
To achieve this, Halkbank strives to:
- Introducing, implementing, continuously monitoring, reviewing and improving the ESMS in accordance with national and international standards;
- Assisting its clients in identifying, preventing, mitigating, and managing social and environmental risks;
- Financing investments that are not on Halkbank’s exclusion list and that comply with applicable Macedonian environmental and social regulations and, where applicable, relevant international best practices;
- Promoting the principles of environmental and social protection, human rights, fair treatment and decent work, non-discrimination, gender equality and equal opportunities, among employees, clients, partners and other stakeholders;
- Ensuring transparency in all Halkbank’s activities with respect to environmental and social issues;
- Ensuring that Halkbank management, employees and other stakeholders understand and apply Halkbank’s environmental and social sustainability commitments;
- Communicating this Policy to all internal and external stakeholders of the Halkbank.
