Start-Up Support

Introduced the country’s first financing package for startups with the launch of a financial Start-Up package.

One million seedlings in five years

Under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) platform HalkEco, the Bank initiated the "One million seedlings in five years" project in partnership with the National Forests Public Enterprise.

2023

Package for Women Entrepreneurs

Halkbank introduced a package for women entrepreneurs to support women in business.

The HalkEko platform organized the Halk Velo Green cycling race, with proceeds directed towards the reforestation efforts in Berovo.

The Bank continued supporting sports, culture, and the society overall through partnerships, events, and projects.

2022

Campaign “Let’s hear and hug them”

The campaign “Let’s hear and hug them” emphasized the importance of older generations and their wisdom.

The Bank received awards from the Ministry of Economy for best CSR practices in environmental protection under the HalkEco platform.

The Bank was awarded by the Macedonian Publishing Agency for the impactful CSR project in literature for youth - Halki’s Storybook

2021

Afforestation and Social Projects

Halkbank planted over 15,000 trees; created inclusive playgrounds, and supported educational projects. The second edition of Halk Velo Green raised funds for reforestation in specific regions. Recognized as the Best Financial Brand in Macedonia by the “Global Brands” Magazine.

2020

Support for Clients During the Pandemic

Became the first bank in the country to offer a six-month deferral on loan obligations during the pandemic. Introduced free electronic transactions and planted over 17,000 seedlings through HalkEco.

2019

HalkEco and Planting

Launched the HalkEco app to promote environmental awareness, and planted over 6,500 trees. Recognized for CSR by the ‘’Story’’ magazine, and awarded the Superbrand for 2019.

2018

Sponsorship and Expansion

Became the official sponsor of the National Handball Federation, and acquired Halk Insurance Skopje.

2011–2017

Growth, Awards, and Rebranding

Named “Best SME Bank” for 2017 by the leading “Global Banking & Finance Review” magazine, and a “Superbrand” for 2017/18.

Opened its first banking representative office in Belgrade; expanded its service network and capital, and implemented top security standards like 3D Secure and PCI DSS v3.3.

Acquired a 91.6% majority stake at IK Bank in 2011, completing its rebranding process. Merged with Ziraat Bank AD Skopje in 2012, and opened the first VIP Corporate Branch in the Macedonian market.

2000–2010

Awards and standards

Named “Best Bank” in Macedonia by the “Finance Central Europe” magazine in London. Implemented the ISO 27001:2005 Information Security Management Standard, and electronic banking services. Awarded “Bank of the year” by the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce.

1993–1998

Establishment and Partnerships

Established as a joint-stock company, becoming the first official representative of “Western Union” in Macedonia.

Structure of the Bank

HALKBANK AD Skopje was founded as a joint stock company in March 1993, with a Decision adopted by the Bank’s Assembly.

Currently, the total nominal capital of HALKBANK A.D. Skopje is MKD 12.846.910.000 divided into 1.284.691 ordinary shares, whose nominal value per share is 10.000 denars. The majority shareholder of HALKBANK A.D. Skopje is Turkiye Halk Bankası AŞ Istanbul with 1.279.905 ordinary shares i.e. 99,63% of the total number of shares.
